Why multiple sclerosis?
At the age of 21, Workhorse member Emily Bethea was surprised to learn that she was diagnosed with MS. Despite that setback, Emily continues to show up and flex her muscles here at the gym, and she’s become a real inspiration to everyone here. But don’t let her cheery attitude and smile fool you – she’s a beast in her workouts.
Her husband, Caleb Bethea is also a member of Workhorse. The two are a great duo, and we wanted to do what we could to support the efforts to find new treatments and cures for this terrible disease.
What is it?
Multiple sclerosis is a disease in which the body’s immune system attacks the brain and spinal cord. It affects the ability of the nervous system to communicate, and can cause fatigue, muscle weakness, and pain. Recent data suggests it affects more than 2.3 million people around the world.

How can you help?
We’ve partnered with Emily and the National MS Society as part of Muscles for MS. The National MS Society is a highly-efficient organization, allocating more than 91% of raised funds toward research and research fellowships (56%), services to chapters (24.6%), and client programs (11.2%). It earned 3 out of 4 stars for financial stewardship, and 4 out of 4 stars for accountability and transparency from Charity Navigator in 2015.
You can make a tax-deductible donation to the National MS Society and support our member Emily Bethea by clicking here.

Thank you from Workhorse Fitness
Thank you to everyone who attended our 1st annual Muscles for MS event to benefit the National MS Society.
We were ecstatic to see so many of you show up to support a great cause. Together we raised more than $1,000 (more on the way!), which will fund research and spread awareness to fight this terrible disease.
A special thank you goes to our local sponsors, whose donations were a real hit in the fundraising raffle. Please consider supporting these fantastic businesses who were quick to chip in to the cause.

A special thanks to all of you who went over and beyond financially and with your time. You know who you are — we really appreciate it! Thanks to MS One to One for the awesome bags and water bottles. They’ll get lots of use!
Saturday served as a great reminder in how a community can come together for a common cause and make a difference. I’m truly blessed to work with such a great group of people who are willing to donate their time, energy, and financial resources toward making the world a better place.
With our first event now behind us, and some kinks worked out, we’re looking forward to hosting again next year — though we’ll keep our fingers crossed that an immediate cure foils our plan. 🙂
