1. A community makes a world of difference
Studies have shown time and time again that people who work out with others get better results. They work out longer, tend to visit the gym more frequently, and burn more calories on each visit. The biggest advantage to a group fitness class is that you’ll always step into the gym with a group of encouraging people to cheer you on.
2. All the benefits of personal training at a lower price
Personal training can be a bit awkward. I know — I was once a personal trainer.
A typical personal training session involves only a few minutes of actual instruction. The rest of the time you’re paying to have someone simply observe as you complete a workout program.
It’s wasted time for the trainer, and wasted money for you. At Workhorse, each class has 15 or fewer people to ensure that every member gets all the attention they need, with no awkward staring contests. New members also start off with a hands-on 101 program in which we work through the basics to nail the technique of every movement.
3. No more confusion
Have you ever walked into the gym and been puzzled at all the choices? From treadmills to ellipticals, resistance machines and free weights, many people find themselves paralyzed by choices.
Attending a group fitness program takes all the guesswork out of working out. At Workhorse Fitness, we live by the belief that working out should require fewer decisions than a trip to the grocery store. Your job is to simply show up — we do the programming for you.
4. Meet new people
I’m happy to say that many of our members aren’t just crushing calories together in the gym; they’re also meeting other driven, passionate people who they call their friends. It’s encouraging to me as a trainer to see so many of our members stay after class to chat, and meet up outside the gym to spend time with one another. People tend to adopt the health habits of their social circle – simply knowing people with good health habits is correlated with having better health habits.
5. You’ll actually show up
Getting out of bed and going to the gym is half the battle. Unfortunately, data from an industry trade group suggest that gym attendance declines over time. By the six month of membership, customers of ordinary globo gyms attend at a rate of less than once a week.
Group fitness classes are the cure for the common gym-goer’s cold. Workouts are planned for you class by class, the instruction makes equipment less intimidating, and the community encourages everyone to attend regularly to reach their goals.
If you aren’t getting the results you want from your current regimine, a group fitness class might be just what you need. Click here to schedule a time to see our facilities and try a free workout to see if the Workhorse Way is right for you.
